The pattern surgeons usually intend
Eight, eleven, two, five, eight and eleven — three hours apart from waking until bed, with the night left alone. It is the standard shape for intensive drop regimens after cataract, retinal and corneal surgery, and for treating an active infection or inflammation. If your surgeon asked for something different, use their hours; the chart accepts any six.
Where six-times regimens go wrong
Two failures dominate. The first is bunching: doses drift later through the day until four land in the evening, which is not the same medicine schedule at all. The second is losing count when two or three different drops are running at different frequencies. A chart with an hour per row and a tick box per dose removes both, because the answer is on the wall rather than in your head.
More than one drop at the same hour
Where two drops share an hour, leave about five minutes between them so the second does not wash out the first, and put ointment last. On the chart they appear stacked in the same box — a visual reminder that they share the hour but not the instant.
Marking the eye
Put left eye or right eye in the site field and it prints inside every dose box. This matters more than it sounds, because second-eye surgery weeks later means running two different schedules at once. Make a separate chart for each eye and keep both where the bottles are.
How to make one
- Choose Drops and set six times a day
- Put the eye in the site field
- Print on A3 and keep it beside the bottles
Questions
Do I need to wake at night for drops?
Usually not for six-times regimens. Follow your surgeon.
How long between two different drops?
About five minutes is the usual advice.
Can I move the six hours later?
Yes, as long as they stay roughly three hours apart.
A note on safety. PillsChart reproduces the schedule you type. It does not check doses or interactions. Always follow the instructions from your doctor or pharmacist, and check the printed chart against the prescription before anyone relies on it.

Ready to make your chart?
It takes about two minutes and prints on one page. Nothing you type leaves your device.
